In my last newsletter, I introduced the idea that human health rests on two primary pillars. One is the food we eat—plants—and the other is something less tangible but no less powerful—peace. I ended by suggesting that while nutrition matters, it may not always protect us from poor outcomes if we live lives devoid of deep inner peace.
For this article, and the next couple that follow, I’d like to focus on the connection of peace to our biology. To do that, we need to look more closely at what happens inside our bodies when peace is present, and what happens when it’s not.
