Proving That Food Can Turn Cancer On and Off
The groundbreaking research that revealed how nutrition—not genes or drugs—controls our future.
What causes cancer? Most people in the research community have long assumed that genes and environmental toxins are the primary causes—not food. And once cancer emerges from these largely uncontrollable causes, it will proliferate into full blown cancer, outside our power to control. How hopeless! And how convenient for the pharmaceutical industry. If cancer is outside our control, then we need the chemotherapy drugs they’ve created – it’s our only hope, right?
Nothing could be further from the truth. As proven by the next phase of my father’s research, nutrition can control the progression of cancer, often referred to as its “promotion phase.” In the remainder of this letter, I’ll summarize a subset of the studies he and his graduate teams performed, starting with a study in 1981-82 (paper published in 1983), examining the effects of animal protein on free radicals. He undertook this study with his graduate student, Scott Appleton.[1]
